What has Planet recycling roll-off / dumpster rental service done to help our environment in the phoenix metro area?
Here is the reason why Planet Recycling’s Roll-Off container and dumpster rental is considered the best carpet and flooring recycling company in Arizona. We are proud of what we do, and we do the best job in the valley.
Planet Recycling & Roll-Off Services diverts over 3000 tons of post-consumer carpet and carpet pad from Phoenix valley’s landfills each year. Planet has three collection sites located in Central Phoenix, and Mesa, taking in material six days per week from flooring installers working independently and for all the major multi-housing flooring companies in the valley.
Planet Recycling Roll-off container / Dumpster rental and carpet recycling services are also available to commercial and residential purpose. If your carpet is a component of nylon 6 and/or nylon 6.6, and is not berber or looped carpet, it is recyclable. Planet will take your recyclable material as a free dump for you. However, not all carpet is recyclable. The only way to tell whether or not your material is recyclable, is to bring it in and let us test it. It’s a quick and accurate test with a special testing unit that determines fiber content. If your material is not recyclable, you may still dump it at our collection sites, for the minimal fee of .10/yard. Quantity is estimated, and you don’t have to wait at any of our locations.
All rebond and prime carpet pad or underlay is recyclable. Planet will pay you current market value, currently at .04 per pound, for your dry, post-consumer pad. The petroleum-based pad is 100% recyclable, and collected material is shipped back to the manufacturer to make new pad–a true “cradle-to-cradle” recycling process. Market value fluctuates based on demand.
In addition to serving your construction site waste-removal requirements, Planet also places roll-off containers at residential and commercial sites to collect clean loads of metal, concrete/block, tile, rock/dirt, and/or corrugated material. Full loads of the designated material is recycled locally for cash. Any monies collected, less a haul fee, is given to you—the customer.
Planet Recycling works closely with Shaw Industries, recycling nylon six carpet. Shaw’s nylon 6 recycling process is the only true “cradle-to-cradle” recycling process of any flooring manufacturer. Post-consumer nylon 6 carpet is recycled into new nylon 6 carpet through a highly-complicated process, which takes the raw material down to a liquid form, and then, finally into new nylon 6 carpet. This complete or “cradle-to-cradle” recycling process solves the major issue in carpet recycling, and that is keeping carpet out of the landfills. According to Planet Recycling, nylon 6 carpet comprises approximately 35% of all incoming carpet fiber.
Planet Recycling is a long-time member of the government and flooring industry coalition, Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE). The mission of CARE is to advance market-based solutions that increase landfill diversion and recycling of post-consumer carpet, encourage design for recyclability and meet meaningful goals as approved by the CARE Board of Directors. Planet Recycling is the only CARE-Certified Collector in the state of Arizona, for the recycling of carpet. For more information, contact CARE’s website at: https://carpetrecovery.org.
Planet Recycling has a long history of working with The City of Chandler’s Recycling Center, diverting incoming carpet and carpet pad from their waste stream, and has recently joined forces with ASU’s Sustainability Solutions Services, with the same goal, on a broader level.
